A Prayer for Healing in Rochester

September 6, 2020

Lord, we’re in the belly of the beast.
We grieve for the family of Daniel Prude.
We acknowledge the volatility and turmoil in Rochester.
In some ways, we have run out of words to pray during this pandemic and racial reckoning.

Please heal our land.
The cross reminds us that You can reconcile ourselves to You and each other.
Sundays remind us that You bring resurrection when hope seems lost.
We start with prayer because we need You to guide us.
You have called us to become ambassadors of peace.

Today, we look to You to mend the brokenness.
Comfort the family of Daniel Prude in their mourning.
Walk with us as we support our Black brothers and sisters in this season.
Guide Mayor Lovely Warren, Chief La’Ron Singletary, the City of Rochester Administration, and the Rochester Police Department in this season.
Open our ears to hear and eyes to see the work of restoration You have called us to pursue.

So, Lord, we need You.
There’s hard work left ahead of us.
Today, we worship with You with hope.
The hope You can make the sad things untrue.
The hope that You can bring those who are far near to You.
We ask You again to heal our land.

Amen
