A Prayer for Intervention

September 20, 2020

How long, oh, Lord?
When will it stop?
How much more darkness until the dawn?
When will our mourning turn to dancing?
What more will it take to reconcile us to each other?

Another week, we have asked for You to intervene in Rochester.
We pray that You would walk with the families grieving this weekend.
You are with those with broken hearts.
May we learn to see others in light of Your mercy and grace.
Guide us into a path of healing.
You alone are our only hope.

Another week has brought out our polarized politics.
Our malice towards each other has divided us more.
Lord, please intervene in this election season.
Beyond our fear and worries, remind us You are near to us.
Let us see each other as brothers and sisters.
Only a miracle of Your grace can heal us now.

We bend our knees and rend our hearts.
Forgive our sins.
Heal our land.
Do what only You can do.
If we ever needed the good news of the gospel, it’s right now.
Lord, please intervene.

Amen
