Little did we know what 2020 entailed for us.
Worry and fear became our companions.
We have learned far more about grief than we would ever want.
Yet, in a world of disorientation, we have come to recognize You.
Today, we offer a prayer of Thanksgiving.
November pauses to look at this year in gratitude.
So, Lord, we thank You…
Thank You for the breath that You have given us.
Thank You for holding the universe in this place.
Thank You for loving us even though we don’t deserve it and the many opportunities You gave us to love others in the manner You loved us.
Thank You for the times You calmed our worries and fears.
Thank You for the times You gave us wisdom when we need it.
Thank You for the precious time with the people who mattered the most.
Thank You for the grace that sustains us.
Thank You for the reminder that we do not captain our ships.
Cause us to slow down with gratitude for You.
You have walked with us through the turmoil.
The gospel is still good news.
We know the brokenness around us and how much we need You to heal.
In this moment, we turn our attention towards Your goodness.
May the gratitude in our hearts draw us closer to You and each other.
Amen
