Lord, we don’t have words.
Our newsfeeds rattle off story after story.
The mourning and weeping remain in high volumes.
This nation right now reckons with the sin and failures of our history.
We repent and ask for changed hearts like Your prophets called Your people.
In humility, we stand with our black brothers and sisters.
We condemn and rebuke any act or system of racism.
It seems now that the Psalms of lament speak for us at this moment.
When one part of Your body suffers, we all suffer.
So Lord, unify us together in these moments that words cannot describe.
I pray for us to experience more the “not yet” than stand in the “already.”
Our tears are our prayers.
Our presence speaks louder than our solutions.
Our motivation is the gospel – the darkness of death swallowed up in resurrection.
Our hope lies firmly in You even when we can’t see it.
We lift up to our leaders – governors, mayors, county executives, chief of police, etc.
Holy Spirit, guide them in wisdom, grace, and truth.
May their decisions bring peace and reconciliation rather than more chaos.
Thwart the plans of any further violence.
Lord, we don’t have words.
Silence teaches to listen to You and Your speaking through our black brothers and sisters.
Realizing we don’t have words brings us to the end of our rope.
The healing we need only comes from the healing You give.
Motivate us with the grace and truth of the gospel.
Amen
