Five Bible Passages to Meditate and Memorize in this Season

April 15, 2020

What has consumed your mind in the last four weeks of the quarantine?

Worry of the unknown can consume us. Frustration with the people we live with can cause outbursts. For some of us, we would like either a little space or place to retreat.

Today, you have an opportunity to pause your thoughts. Consider what has consumed your mind. Often we need to redirect our minds and thoughts.

One of the most transformational spiritual practices includes meditating and memorizing Scripture. Focusing on a Bible passage redirects our thoughts and creates a new prompt.

So today, amid all your thoughts and feelings of worry, anxiety, frustration, resentment, etc. take a look at these following passages.

You may want to put it on a post-it note. You can create an image online. Place the verses in a place you will see them. Check out these passages:

2 Corinthians 2:3-4

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

Psalm 25:4-5

Show me your ways, Lord,
    teach me your paths.
Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.

Matthew 6:33-34

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Galatians 6:9-10

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
    he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
    for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk
    through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
    for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever.
