Lord, we confess to You that we search for our identity in lesser things…
We rattle off our accomplishments.
We remind people who we know.
We introduce ourselves by our positions and titles.
We judge ourselves by our data — likes, follows, retweets, contact lists, etc.
Somewhere, we believed that the lie of earning love and grace.
Not just from others, but ultimately from You.
Walking in the light means walking in the truth.
Help us today to walk in the truth of the Gospel.
You offer us identity from Your death and resurrection.
Our brokenness becomes wholeness in You.
Healthy identity from You motivates all that we do.
It allows us to love people as You would.
It allows us to experience work and tasks with Your significance.
It leads us to recognize Your presence with us throughout the day.
Release us from finding identity in lesser things.
May we find our identity in You —
being created in Your image and experiencing the Good News of the Gospel.
